Whisk - Wisma Atria

Sa suggested a cat themed cafe... *in shock*
we found out the reason why during sunday brunch where theres a massive line outside PS and a reservation list in Marmalade, this place is completely deserted while staring out the window to the ION construction site...

Mint & Lime Soda
there's hardly any mint at all in this... the tiny slithers of mint leaves on top is simply pathetic...

Rhubarb Pork Noodles
this could be so far the only dish that look better in photos than in person... the color is dull, taste no sign of rhubarb, noodles too thin and overcooked.... the only saving grace is the pork itself... extra tender, but swarmed in weird tasting sauce... ew
2/10

this place seems like someone's hobby... they need a real chef! although located in such a deserted corner of the mall might not have help either...

Sakura - Sydney

Nice place to grab a quick bite, too bad the place is really itsy bitsy teenie weenie. It's located just next to Cupcakes on Pitt. Great chance to grab some cupcakes afterwards *kill two birds with one stone*.

Sakura Fish & Chips

-> An interesting take on an otherwise boring and over-consumed local fare. It's actually deep-fried whiting fillet with renkon (lotus root) chips, topped with a mayonnaise-based sauce (mixed with what tastes like mirin or something sweet and soy sauce). Kind of original, I'm sure - but the dish left me somewhat confused. The batter is somewhat reminiscent of tempura batter, but instead of crispy and light, this one is rather soft and light. It's not bad, but I kind of expected the batter to be crispy. The sauce is rather delightful, though - thank goodness they don't use some kind of tartar sauce because it's just plain boring.

Rating: 6.5/10

-> The renkon chips. It doesn't really work for me. It's pretty, yes, but as we all know, lotus root does not have a strong flavor nor aroma. So, when it's deep-fried until crispy, it just taste like a bland potato chip. Nevertheless, still better than boring ol' potato.

Sydney Fish Market

It took nearly an hour to get a seat at this popular destination for seafood lovers. It's kind of expected, really - since it was a Saturday afternoon. Felt like Hong Kong that day - I'd say 80% of the customers are Asian - up from the usual 50%. We Asians truly are seafood slaves.

Spice Brasserie - Parkroyal on Kitchener, Singapore

Late lunch before heading off to the airport. I wanted to go out to grab a bite, but didn't have enough time (planned to get some of those fantastic char kway teow at Zion road. Damn.) and had to eat at the hotel instead.

Fish & Chips

Actually, I planned to get a lunch buffet, but since it was 3pm, the buffet has closed and I had to settle with this instead. But it's quite good, to be fair. The fish is a soft perch fillet and I quite like their unique tartare sauce.
