Makoto Sushi Bar - Sydney

Sushi Aussie
-> Apart from the silly name (Can't figure out what is so Aussie about this platter), it's splendid. Makoto is truly one of the best Sushi bars in Sydney.

Rating: 9/10

Jacob's Creek Reserve Chardonnay Pinot Noir Sparkling
-> Simple, soft and fruity - perfect for accompanying sushi. It's no Krug or DP, but it'll do just nicely.

Rating: 7/10

Hooray for Beijing!
This takeaway sushi platter was consumed as my friends and I were watching the breathtaking closing ceremony of the 2008 summer Olympics on TV. We'd like to express our pride and happiness for China, our fatherland, by having a traditional....er....Japanese feast. (Okay, whaddya expect, pot stickers and moo shu pork???)

(hey, we don't even have moo shu pork in Australia - it's really a Chinese-American food!)

...Point is, as proud and happy as we are that China has successfully pulled off an unforgettable and spectacular olympics, we were sick of Chinese food lately. LOL

I'm not going to blab about how wonderful both the opening and closing ceremonies are (directed by one of my favorite Chinese film director, Zhang Yimou), but as the auteur reportedly said himself:

"Opening and closing ceremonies, no matter how spectacular they are, will soon be forgotten. NOT THIS ONE."
