Pure - Pacific Place, Jakarta

Organic food.

Lunch with Cla. a certain SOMEONE should've come and joined us but that SOMEONE was too lazy to take out her jet-ski and cruise through the massive floods of Jakarta that day!

(ach, what am I doing. She wouldn't read this anyway)

Moving on...the food were all organic (read: icky). But since my stomach were probably more polluted than the Ciliwung River, I thought, oh well, may as well do some detox. LOL
The food were understandably bland, and no matter how much pungent sauce they're slapping on the food, organic beef still tastes like organic beef.
The restaurant also claims that unlike 90% of the restaurants out there, they actually took the trouble washing their vegetables thoroughly. Well, if you compare it with 90% of restaurants in INDONESIA, then yeah they're probably right. It's like, duHHH.

Iced Tea & Thai Iced Tea

-> It's official. Tamani Cafe's Thai Iced tea is the BEST in Jakarta. This one isn't even comparable. Probably because it's organic. LOL

Spicy Buffalo Wings

-> Buffalo wings, my tush. They bought a 5,000 rupiahs Indonesian skinny free-range chicken, cook it, claim that it's organic, and slapped a 60,000 rupiah price tag. Nice try.

Beef Enoki

-> Their bestseller. Well, it's not THAT bad. The taste was very marginal. Sauce was too sweet. Cute presentations, though. Kind of reminds me of Thai Airways business class menu. But less delicious. LOL

Grilled Dory

-> Was it grilled dory, Cla? I forgot. As for the taste...it's bland. 4.5 out of 10.

Moral of the story: Organic food, me no likey.

Tony Roma's - Sydney

Tony Roma's Sydney ribs is wayy inferior to other rib restaurants in Sydney like, say, Hurricane's at Bondi. In fact, the best Tony Roma's restaurant I've been to (in Asia-Pacific) is in Singapore. It used to be Jakarta, but since they decided to mix local ingredients with imported ones in 2000, their quality slowly declines.

The Spaghetti House - Plaza Senayan, Jakarta

Had dinner at The Spaghetti House with my brother and cousin Mirna after a whole tiring day of attending the International Motor Show in Jakarta Convention Centre. The nearest place for 3 hungry kids to eat: Plaza Senayan. And The Spaghetti house is the closest restaurant to the parking exit. Go figure.

Garlic Bread
-> It's funny, but I don't eat a lot of garlic breads these days. Maybe it's because I think that garlic breads are so '70s (ergo un-trendy), or because it's just some obnoxious pieces of foodstuff that fills up the tummy before I even get to the main dishes. Anyway, when I go to Italian restaurants nowadays, whenever I was asked "would you like some garlic breads to start / go with that?" I always say "No, thanks". Or, I'll say "I'll skip the garlic bread, bruschetta, or breadsticks, or whatever you serve" beforehand. I don't know why I had garlic breads this time. (Maybe it's the extreme hunger).

Italian-style Chicken Wings
-> I don't normally say bad things about food I post on this blog (because it contradicts the very purpose of this blog), but can I just say that serving overcooked, measly bird wings with a tomato-oregano based sauce on the side doesn't make it Italian.

Nasi Goreng
-> Why would we order Nasi Goreng in an Italian restaurant is beyond me.

Home-made Lasagna
-> Ahh...finally...something Italian. I love how they add Ricotta cheese bits as well as the Mozarella.

Tony Roma's - Sudirman, Jakarta

This was the first restaurant I went as soon as I arrived at Jakarta for my winter break. It's a family tradition to greedily munch on some ribs as soon as I arrive home for my holidays.
There were 4 of us - and all of us ordered baby backs because that's the only good thing left in Tony Roma's Jakarta since they pulled out Bountiful Beef (like, the BEST ribs ever) from the menu.
