Matsu - Northbridge, Sydney

A newly opened Japanese restaurant at Northbridge (a short walk from Northbridge Plaza). It's Korean-run (not again...argh), but I'm always keen to try out new restaurants. Plus, I feel pity for them, because they haven't got much customers yet - somehow I felt obliged to help them get the ball rolling.

Tempura Udon

-> Something I've been craving for weeks. Tempura udon is a pretty common dish, but somehow, I haven't came across any in weeks, so I was ecstatic when I saw that this restaurant has it on their menu.

Presentation-wise, I thought they could do better - I actually prefer them placing the tempura above the udon itself instead of serving them on a separate dish. Also, I'm not too happy about the addition of tempura bits on the udon soup - I think it's redundant, although it's pretty common to do so. My stomach does not handle tempura very well - if I eat too much, I will get nauseous (probably because the tempura crumbs has high oil content).

At AUD 14, I think it's a tad pricey for such a simple dish in a simple restaurant.
